ONE DRESS, DIFFERENT WAYS: MARIANO MORENO FOR BBFW 2027

For the new Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2027 campaign, Needs No Explanation, we were invited to create and conceptualize a dress that could embody a new generation of brides: independent, contemporary and unwilling to be defined by a single way of dressing.

The starting point felt particularly close to us. At our atelier, we had already begun to notice a change in the way brides approached their wedding dress. Increasingly, they were looking for pieces that could evolve throughout the day and, more importantly, have a life beyond it. It was a shift we had been observing naturally, and one that became the foundation of our proposal for BBFW 2027.

ONE DRESS, MULTIPLE POSSIBILITIES

Rather than designing several looks, we approached the project as one transformable wedding dress.

Built around a youthful tank top, the design became a modular system of six interchangeable pieces. The train can be removed, the long skirt transforms into a shorter silhouette, the construction can be reversed to alter the neckline, and a bandeau developed together with Swarovski introduces another way of transforming the look.

The sketches reveal what the final campaign images cannot show at first glance: every version belongs to the same design. Each transformation was conceived to respond to a different moment without asking the bride to give up the identity of the original piece.

For us, that adaptability is what makes the project particularly relevant. The idea was never simply to create a dress that could change visually, but to rethink how a bridal garment can accompany the woman wearing it.

As Mariano explains:

We adapted the dress so the bride can change her look during the wedding, and so it has more potential to be worn out on the street afterward

 

NEEDS NO EXPLANATION

That philosophy finds its place naturally within Needs No Explanation, the concept behind the BBFW 2027 campaign: instead of asking the bride to adapt to a predetermined idea of bridal fashion, the dress adapts to her. 

Photographed across Barcelona, each transformation accompanies a different moment of the campaign and a different side of the same woman. From the historic character of Plaça del Rei to the Mediterranean atmosphere of Barceloneta and the final transition into a party look, the city becomes part of that evolution. 

We are proud to have brought our vision to Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2027 through a piece that reflects something we increasingly believe in at Mariano Moreno: bridal couture can preserve its sense of occasion while becoming more personal, adaptable and connected to the life of the woman wearing it.
